SA: Girl responding well to meningococcal treatment

A two-year-old girl from metropolitan Adelaide has been admitted to hospital with meningococcal
disease.

The South Australian Human Services Department says the girl is responding well to treatment.

About 30 contacts had been identified of which 18 people had been given a medical assessment
and precautionary antibiotics.

The girl's case has brought the number of confirmed meningococcal cases in Adelaide
this year to six, including one death.
